The Public Engagement team behind the Cambridge Festival of Ideas also run other free public events throughout the year:
Never tell an engineer it can’t be done. Join us for the fourth Holiday Lecture sponsored by Marshall Group on Saturday 17 December. From manned space flight to conquering the ocean depths, Dr Tim Minshall, will show how challenges are the inspiration for innovation.
Join us at the 18th Cambridge Science Festival, the UK’s largest free science festival from 12 – 25 March 2012 which will feature a range of hands on activities and talks to suit all ages. With over 170 free events on topics from astronomy to zoology there’s something for everyone! Further details and a programme will be available from January 2012.
Walk through Cambridge Colleges for charity. The 4.5 mile Bridge the Gap Charity walk will take place on Sunday 11 September 2011 to raise money for Arthur Rank Hospice and Press Relief. It is one of the most popular charity walks in the region and includes activities on route and a chance to learn more about the history of Cambridge and its Colleges.
Open Cambridge provides a unique opportunity for visitors to explore collegiate Cambridge through subject themed tours, guided by University and College experts. Open Cambridge 2012 will take place from Friday 7 – Sunday 9 September. Open Cambridge features tours of Colleges, libraries and departments as well as talks which explore 800 years of history.
