How do I get a Raven password?

The instructions below apply whether you are applying for a Raven password for the first time or need to apply again because you have forgotten the old one or can't make it work. If you know your Raven password and simply want to change it, see instead http://www.cam.ac.uk/cs/docs/faq/n6.html.

Raven passwords are available only to current staff and students of the University and to others requiring to use Raven for University business. All new undergraduate and postgraduate students automatically receive a Raven password along with other Computing Service passwords when they first register (see http://www.cam.ac.uk/cs/new-students/)

Please note: If you wish to access CamSIS and your Raven account has been terminated because you have left the University, please contact the CamSIS Help Desk at camsishelp@admin.cam.ac.uk to enquire if an alternative method can be arranged.

If you need to apply explicitly for a Raven password, either because you have never had one or because you have forgotten it, note that this is not done by coming to Computing Service Reception. Instead, please follow the first step below if possible: otherwise the second, or failing both the third.

• If you have an account (and know your password) on the Hermes mail system, or the mail systems run by the Engineering Department, the Department of Applied Maths and Theoretical Physics, the Computer Laboratory, or by Biological Sciences ('Mole'), collect or recollect your Raven password, or arrange for a password to be changed and sent to you by visiting https://jackdaw.cam.ac.uk/get-raven-password. If you are collecting a Raven password for the first time, or are re-collecting the original password allocated to you, not having changed it meanwhile, then you will be given the password immediately on the screen. If you have changed your Raven password since it was originally issued, then a new password will be generated and sent to you through the UMS.
• If you do not have one of the above accounts but you are a University Officer, College Fellows, member of University academic or assistant staff, Graduate Student, Research Student or undergraduate, use the form at http://www.cam.ac.uk/cs/request/raven.html. Passwords will be sent through the UMS.
• If you are not in the previous categories (e.g. a supervisors without a University or College post), you will need to complete a paper application form - see http://www.cam.ac.uk/cs/newusers/applying.html. Passwords will be posted.
