Undergraduate Admissions

Tuition fees

Tuition fees at the University of Cambridge are no higher than those for other universities. In fact, they’re exactly the same as most other English universities. In 2011–12, the tuition fee for UK/EU students studying for their first undergraduate degree is £3,375 per year for all courses*, as outlined in our Access Agreement and approved by the Office for Fair Access (OFFA).

You don’t have to pay your tuition fees while you’re studying at the University. You can choose to do so if you want to or you can take out a government student loan for tuition fees, and defer payment until you’ve graduated. The student loan for tuition fees does have to be paid back after you’ve left university but you only start repaying once you’re earning a minimum salary determined by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) (currently £15,000 per year) and then in small, manageable instalments.

More information about tuition fees for international students is given in Costs to consider for international students.

*Tuition fees for affiliated students (except those studying Medicine or Veterinary Medicine, and those in receipt of the Disabled Students’ Allowance) will be at a higher level than the standard UK/EU fee. Please see the Affiliated students page for more details. Tuition fees are also higher for Islands students; those students from the Channel Islands and from the Isle of Man.
