Group email address

A group email address provides a permanent email address for a group, College or Department, although the person who receives the mail may change from time to time.

As an example, the address for admissions enquiries to St. Botolph's College might be botolph-admissions@lists.cam.ac.uk and this could be delivered to staff in the admissions office. Further information is available by mailing to user-admin@ucs.cam.ac.uk.

Mailing lists

Mailing lists are a convenient and efficient way of sending the same message to a number of users, such as a group of students on a course, the members of a University Society or members of a Department. As an example, the name of a mailing list of all first year students reading farming might be farming-part1a@lists.cam.ac.uk.
